Five college students in Massachusetts are accused of luring a man to the Assumption University campus in a plot that the police said was inspired by the television show “To Catch a Predator” and a fad on TikTok.

The students were part of a larger group that chased the man from a campus building after he was invited there by a student on the dating app Tinder, expecting to meet an adult, according to a criminal complaint issued in Worcester District Court on Dec. 4.

Two students assaulted the man, the police said.

There was no indication that the man was trying to meet underage girls and the woman who invited him to the campus, Kelsy Brainard, 18, said on her Tinder profile that she was 18 years old, the police said. The police did not provide the man’s age.

Videos of the episode, which happened on Oct. 1, were shared among students and seen by the police, who said that minutes after the man arrived on campus, he was watching a baseball game on a couch in a student lounge with Ms. Brainard and there was “ample personal space between them.”

Suddenly, a large group of students appeared from hidden locations, the complaint said. The students berated the man “as a sexual offender,” grabbed him and blocked him from leaving the room, the police said.

When 30 year old men are assaulted or worse because they find 21 year old women attractive, it's bound to reach a stage where people challenge the criticisms of age gap relationships— opening up a chance to reintroduce critical thinking around youth sexuality.

I agree, as bad as a I feel for the innocent teliophiles caught up in this age gap nonsense for dating 18-30 year olds, maybe it will bring some empathy and open their eyes to just how bad being a MAP is and how draconian the laws and societys views are towards Adult x Minor, and how its bullshit that Adult x Minor is seen as inherently wrong in the first place. All the arguments used against Adult x Minor can easily be used against Adult x Young adult. If an 17 and 364 day old is a little baby child that will explode if they are so much as LOOKED at wrong by someone older, then whats so special about us 18 year olds, who are a year older at most, a couple minutes older at least, that one is a ok but the other warrants getting your brains blown out? And why stop at 18? Whats the difference between 18 and 19. And whats the difference between 19 and 20, and what about 20 and 21, and 21 and 22, when should it end? Should it ever even end, at what age does it stop being “problamatic” to date someone younger than you, or is it always problamatic? If a 4 year age gap between a 14 year old and an 18 year old is evil and warrants death, then whats so special about a 3 year age gap that makes one warrant the death penanlty but the other a ok. And if 3 years is evil, then why is 2 years ok, and if 2 years is evil, what makes a year so special? If you are 12+, if society wants to control you and your descions you are a child, wether you are 13 or 30, if soceity wants you to be held accountable for your actions you are an adult. Thats why we have 13 year olds serving life sentences in prisons as fully grown adults but 30 year olds who are “basically children” and “cant consent” to dating 60 year olds. Puberty, wether your nut is clear or white, wether you bleed or not, is the ONLY REAL MARKER of adulthood, everything after that is a completely arbitrary/made up social/legal rule.

Any argument used against Minor x Adult can be used against Young adult x Adult, and any agrument in support of Young adult x Adult can be used in support of Minor x Adult, because unlike what antis want us to belive, past puberty, wether someone is a child or not is arbitrary, and there is absolutely ZERO difference between a minor 17 year old and a legal 18 year old, and that minors are the same species as adult humans, not special unique creatures who are fundamentally different from adults in every way shape or form. So basically they have only two options. Either they can double down, make everything more draconian and miserable, and enforce a strict age gap policy so dating anyone outside your birth year warrants social shame, prison, or death, or loosen up and admit that age really is just a number and how partners treat each other is more indicative of abuse or a healthy relationship vs some arbitrary number they have given special powers to
