Beyond Pro- and Anti-Contact: Understanding the Ideologies of People Attracted to Children

Post by Jim Burton »

A review was written by the pro-MAP team at NTU appearing to nuance the pro-c/anti-c dichotomy, based on a polling sample of MAPs.

Good: Bringing the existence of moderate MAPs into the public domain.

Also good: Suggesting a link between poor self control and self loathing among Virpeds.

Not so good: Too easily linking pro-c beliefs with offending behaviour, and the involvement of a B4U-ACT member in a paper endorsing those statements. Research by Bailey and by Jahnke already highlighted that permissive beliefs are not significantly associated with offending, so why is he even making this speculative statement without statistical support?
