Mu Analysis: Social Screening - How "benign pedophilia" is carefully erased from public view

Post by Jim Burton »

Have you ever wondered how the public perception of "pedophiles" became so distorted, perhaps even more so than MAPs as a wider group?

Have you ever sought a simple way to explain how we arrived at the present situation, and why it never seems to change?

Here, we will try to provide you with the answers to these questions. The post will also serve as a useful resource to share with others who come with the same queries.

There are many debates over the historical causes of pedo-hysteria, with religion, feminism, conservatism, neoliberalism, etc, often ending up on the hook. But it can also be helpful to put aside the divisive blame-gaming and instead take a look at some of the ongoing social processes that allow this state of affairs to sustain itself.

[...]

Aggressive demonical caricatures and groomer-libel are pushed at our benign pedophile by malign individuals - media and influencers with a vested interest in whipping up hate. Pedophilic men who do not see themselves reflected in those images, scramble to pull themselves from public view. Not only does the tiny window of public visibility move as a result, but the societal benchmark for "men like this" becomes all the more distorted.

The MAPs in the news, usually sex offenders, are a sliver of us yeah that is the only “image” that the public sees through the media, except rarely. Media misrepresentation sets the stage for societal misrepresentation and demonization of us. We are ordinary people, who are attracted this way. It is not A mental illness or sexual deviation or paraphilia.

Kind of the point I was trying to get at with the expression "not every MAP is Josef Fritzl". Interesting about the deviancy amplification spiral.

Was it written by AI?

Thanks, all. I did most of the writing, with some feedback. I'll look into using AI soon.

I think MAP martyrdom, wanting to be out, very publicly and alone, speaks to the social isolation of our cause, especially what’s called “fragmentation” of MAPs from social organization, basically becoming a one-man army for MAP rights.

It’s actually a topic I’ve written some thoughts on, and seen reflected in several VirPed users, who almost relish the backlash of their solo out activism.

Great article, Jim! I like this kind of topics.

I was also under the impression this was written using AI. I don't mind articles written using AI, but this new kind of mild paranoia - is it written using AI or not? - is a bit wearing. Probably I will get used to it with time...
When society judges without understanding, it silences hearts that yearn for connection.

It is only more confusing, because humans will ultimately be able to impersonate AI, and act more like it.

For me, it was because I didn't see an author attribution on the article.
