A vile paedophile who abused boys for 22 years died of leukaemia while restrained for six days to a hospice bed, watchdogs say.
Harry Day, who was honoured for work with kids, was jailed after it emerged he sexually abused boys for more than two decades. The disgraced youth worker, awarded an MBE in 2004, was convicted of abuse and jailed for 13 years in 2009.
Day groomed and attacked his victims, aged 12 to 16 between 1973 and 1995, luring some into his bed. Others woke to find him abusing them. Norwich crown court heard was given harrowing details of his depraved crimes, in which he forced his victims to commit vile acts. Now it has emerged the disgraced youth worker died aged 87 while a serving prisoner at HMP Five Wells in Northamptonshire in September last year.
