“Pedophillia isnt about sexual attraction, it is about power and control”

Is anyone else really sick and tired of this myth? It first of all doesnt make any sense, if it was just about power and control and/or getting to destroy “innocence” then pedophiles would also be into adults with down syndrome, the elderly, bedridden hospice patients, homeless people, adults with intellectual disabillities, etc. But we arent, despite the fact that you would probably have more “power and control” over an elderly women suffering from dementia or an adult with down syndrome than a perfectly healthy teenager. In fact, you would probably have MORE power and control over a senile elderly person or an adult with down syndrome or an intellectual disabillity because there are significantly less safegaurds put in place to protect them and the have a lower mental capacity than a teen taking college classes, espcially when it comes to the elderly, who often dont have family alive or willing/capable enough to help them out and are more at the mercy of anyone who might have bad intentions. Also, if it was about “power and control” or “destroying innocence”, I would be sexually attracted to children with down syndrome or fat children or ugly children, but I dont find them sexy or appealing in the slightest, despite the fact that I would probably have more “power and control” over a child with down syndrome than a healthy child, and a child with down syndrome would probably be more “innocent” and stay “innocent” for a longer period of time.

I think this applies more to rapist and child rapist then pedophiles by themselves

I think this myth came from looking at a subset of pedophiles then extrapolating those findings into pedophilia itself.

I don’t want to control children or manipulate them, I just find them attractive. But according to antis, this isn’t really what’s going on.

This is an easily debunked myth, among other easily debunked myths against pedophiles. It's an easy one to peddle but anyone who really stops to look at the argument finds it falls apart pretty quickly.
