LONE STAR, Texas (KLTV) - A minor accused of posting child sexual abuse material on social media has been arrested, the Lone Star Police Department said.
The minor, whose name was not released because of their age, has been charged with possession with intent to distribute, a second degree felony.
The department said it took a report July 31 that a minor was posting child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on social media.
During the investigation, police said they learned the minor had been reported in a cybertip through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children for posting CSAM to Instagram.
The Lone Star Police Department, with help from the Miller County, Arkansas Sheriff’s Office, arrested the minor at the Bi-State Jail in Texarkana.
Police said the minor was interviewed and said other minors in the Daingerfield-Lone Star and Mount Pleasant ISDs also have the images and are sharing them.
LSPD is asking parents to check their children’s electronic devices and social media to delete the images.
