I watched 'Age of Consent.' I'll probably finish 'The truth about Epstein' later because I still know so little about that scandal.

One thing I disagreed with is your claim that the urge for sex begins with puberty. I think it exists prior to then. Some adults lack sexual attraction generally or to specific persons they might want to have sex with on some level (if not instinctively). I don't support an age of consent law but if you were to tie that to puberty I'd think it should probably be rooted in what's standard for an age group and not case-by-case (some 12-year-olds haven't even started puberty, some 12-year-olds have finished puberty, but a 13-year-old girl who hasn't at least started puberty isn't just a late bloomer; some kind of medical abnormality explains the delay. I'm sure there are medically unusual people who never go through puberty but what's standard is for girls to start thelarche between 8 and 12, and menarche between 10 and 14, and to finish puberty around 2 years after their first period, if I'm not mistaken. I used to assume that andrenarche was responsible for the birth of basic sexual desire and that apparently starts around 2 years before puberty but there is evidence for babies in and out of the womb masturbating for pleasure. I'd assume that a 10-year-old who's had her first period, the average girl has it at 12, is more similar to average 10-year-olds in every other respect than a 14-year-old who hasn't had her first period is).

I also think there's a serious inconsistency in thinking that someone is old enough to be held morally responsible for murder but not cognitively developed enough to meaningfully consent to sexual intimacy with someone. I'd think that the gravity of permanently ending a life holds more weight than having certain physical contact, even with its emotional consequences, at least in practice.
