When two people choose to hide their age

Post by Grunko »

Let’s imagine there is two individuals engaging in sexual activity but neither of them know the other persons age. Could the encounter still be consensual or harmless if two people don’t want others to know their age. There are many people who don’t like sharing their age because they don’t feel it matches with who they are as a person. Rather than being transage, what if a people choose they don’t want to disclose their age. Wouldn’t that prove people that the relationships/encounters could still be consensual, harmless and both people would find ways to ensure they are being respectful to each other.

This is a stupid question. Just because some politicians say that x age "can't consent" with x different age doesn't make it reality

In terms of informed consent, I think I would make a distinction between not going out of your way to disclose your age and flat-out lying about it. There are many things you might not know about a partner.

On principle I'm not necessarily opposed to lying about one's age to prospective partners (in the same way that I'm not, on principle, opposed to trans women lying to cisgendered men about their being biological women although it's probably a bad idea in general). I care more about the encounter being harmless/mutually beneficial than consensual ultimately.
