Anthony Holtorf, the 38-year-old Clearview man who was declared a pedophile after he was convicted of attempting to kidnap young girls from an Angus park six years ago, has been formally declared a long-term offender and sentenced to an additional two years in prison.
Thursday’s proceeding at the Barrie courthouse closed a case that raised questions about how a man who had displayed a sexual attraction toward young girls for decades could be treated while serving his sentence and then reintegrated into the community.
“It has been a long road,” Superior Court Justice Annette Casullo said after she issued her findings.
In stating her reasons, Casullo told court there is a “reasonable possibility” Holtorf can be a productive member of society upon release.
