He told Studden he was just 13. The profile was in fact set up by a paedophile hunter group, The Underworld, who look to draw out predators looking for children online.
Studden turned the conversation sexual, asking him about his sexuality and if he had experimented or had feelings for the boy’s male friends.
He talked about his hot tub in his garden and that he would go in naked. Studden also talked about a boy that he had staying with him, and that the boy would watch him in the shower.
He then asked the decoy profile if he masturbated and encouraged him.
He was arrested after a week of swapping messages, with the hunter group contacting the police.
Was there anything "unhealthy" about conversations that landed 58 year old in jail?

Exactly which laws led to this arrest?
If I own a car and I convince someone to steal my car, the only person who should be arrested is me. Why?
1 – He didn’t steal any car; I implicitly gave him permission to “steal” it, even if he didn’t know it was mine.
2 – I pushed him to commit a crime, and this fact remains even if I’m not an accomplice to any theft, since no car was actually stolen.
So who are the criminals in this story? Not the 58-year-old man, who in fact wrote to an adult. But the hunter? They pretended to be someone they were not (which, at least where I’m from, can be a crime, and to me in this context is a crime), and they pushed someone to commit a crime. Therefore, they should be considered primarily an accomplice (although this falls apart since there is no real victim), but the incitement remains.
All of this is so dystopian and nonsensical, it feels like what homosexuals experienced in military environments. (Didn't they actually do something similar? Guys being paid to lure other guys.)
Actually, let’s look at it from an anti perspective: Who is making thirteen-year-olds appear to the public as being in perpetual lust for adults? These hunters. Has no one ever considered that people think thirteen-year-olds are “fuckable” only because of hunters pretending that thirteen-year-olds want to have sex? There’s so much pedophobia around these issues—someone should arrest these hunters before they distort other adults’ perceptions!
Here’s my frustrated sigh.
