GILES COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A 62-year-old man in Giles County was recently taken into custody and charged with aggravated statutory rape for a relationship involving a 16-year-old girl.

From what I can gather in the article no one actually involved in the relationship had any problems with it, it wasn't one of those arranged situations some parents coerce their teens into. In any sane world this would become a civil rights case immediately - can you imagine if pre-2015 a married gay couple from New York were arrested under sodomy charges for living together in Texas after their wedding instead of just denied spousal protections and benefits?

Well as someone on another forum replied, it's coming up on an election year and the DA is up for reelection. The complaint was from "a concerned citizen", so this reeks of political motivation.
