A Wasilla doctor facing recent charges of possessing images of child sexual abuse is missing after a fire Sunday at his home, according to Alaska State Troopers.

The remains of an adult male were found in the burned home on West Discovery Loop, troopers said in an online report. The state Medical Examiner’s Office would identify the remains, and an investigation into the fire’s cause continued, troopers said.

The home’s owner, Ryan McDonough, had been charged with 10 felony counts of possessing child sexual abuse material. Local, state and federal investigators working together in an operation dubbed “Task Force Dawnbreaker” arrested McDonough on Thursday.

I am always perplexed when a person finds their life ruined even before the accusations are confirmed, as if they were an infected person to be immediately isolated before they can infect the healthy as well.

Driven by curiosity, I went to look up the definition of CSAM in Alaska to see what can actually be included or excluded, and on a quick reading it seems to concern material in which the subject is an actual minor, a real person. Or the editing of an image containing a minor. So there is already room for someone to be convicted for something that does not involve a real minor.

But the curious thing is that I saw that in 2024 they decided to rename “child pornography” as CSAM as “a move toward more accurate, victim-centered language”, because child pornography misleadingly suggests a consensual act. A change intended to reshape public perception and legal frameworks around these crimes.

They talk about it as if society were hand in hand with these crimes, as if we were talking about movie piracy. Hand in hand. Yes, a man who gets fired and sets himself on fire even before a conviction is really the representation of a society that goes hand in hand with child pornography…

But have these people ever been on Twitter? I believe many minors take selfies consensually—if not all of them, by the very definition of a selfie.

I'm sure his hometown will be so much safer for children and families with a respected cardiologist who can perform procedures that prevent the need for open heart surgeries is now dead for... nonexistent crimes and nonexistent interest in nonexistent minors (/s). I'm sure all the people orphaned by parents killed by heart disease feel so much better knowing that so many pedophiles are prosecuted that they even got an innocent doctor caught up in the mix - no more broken teddy bears if you don't have parents to buy stuffies for you in the first place!

The comments are quite annoying and, honestly, they make me want to play devil’s advocate and “defend him”: being against gender transition for minors does not mean being anti-trans; it means not considering a minor’s consent to be valid. Which fits perfectly within MAP-related issues.

Considering that we’re not even talking about someone who has had sex, they can’t even be accused of any supposed hypocrisy. The hypocrisy, rather, is clearly present on the part of these commentators, since they are criticizing a person on the basis of their sexual orientation, coming from trans people or from people close to those who suffer from gender dysphoria.
