How do you deal with Cancel Culture and the fact that society doesn't want MAPs to have a job?
How do you deal with Cancel Culture and the fact that society doesn't want MAPs to have a job?
Is there anyone here who has been convicted before or who are outed, who are doing fine still or who still have supportive friends/family?

I take comfort in knowing I'm not the only one. And in history, there have been a lot of societies where secret-keeping was very important. So, think of the Soviet Union, for instance. There were a lot of informants, and anyone could be waiting to rat you out to the secret police for being a 'counter-revolutionary.' So people had to be careful what they said, even around neighbors and family members. You never knew who you could completely trust. And the Soviet block housing apartment walls were very thin, so you had to be careful what you said even in your own place, lest the neighbors overheard something that they could report.oolhlh2 wrote: Mon Feb 09, 2026 12:47 am Re: How do you deal with Cancel Culture and the fact that society doesn't want MAPs to have a job?
It's sad to say that society feels a lot like this today, especially for certain marginalised groups like child lovers. But just know that we're not the only ones who ever had to deal with such a dystopian society. People have gotten through this before. One day, I believe we'll get though it again. But until then, we need to be smart and take measure to protect our privacy and safety.
I know lots of people in these communities who have written of being outed. It's usually very difficult at first. But after a while, many have described it as being 'freeing.' And also, they quickly find out who their real friends are, and who is not.oolhlh2 wrote: Mon Feb 09, 2026 12:47 am Is there anyone here who has been convicted before or who are outed, who are doing fine still or who still have supportive friends/family?

What about financially? I have seen so many cases of MAPs who got convicted or outed, who then lost their jobs, reputation, etc, and struggled to find new ones or rebuild as "once you are a pedo, the only thing you are entitled to is death and nothing else".OnionPetal wrote: Mon Feb 09, 2026 7:28 am I know lots of people in these communities who have written of being outed. There seems to be a increase in popularity towards socialism by the youth. If socialism becomes a thing then outed/convicted MAPs may as well kill themselves as they won't be able to start a business/get hired due to how socialism works. I would slice my arms off to prevent that from happening.

This is a problem in the forms of socialism that have existed till now, where the state controls the economy. There are libertarian or at least more democratic forms of socialism (in theory). But in authoritarian capitalist countries you also have the problem that the state might not let you start a business. So it's not only about the economic system.oolhlh2 wrote: Mon Feb 09, 2026 11:29 amWhat about financially? Depends on the type of work you're trying to do. If you're a licensed daycare provider, that might be an issueoolhlh2 wrote: Mon Feb 09, 2026 11:29 am What about financially? Maybe it will go full communism, and you won't have to worry about it, because then everyone will be forced to work, whether they want to or not. Or perhaps with socialism, you wouldn't have to work, because there would be a big focus on public benefits (e.g., 'universal basic income'). Regardless, being outed is not the end of the world. You probably just won't be able to get that corporate email job if outed. Life goes on.oolhlh2 wrote: Mon Feb 09, 2026 11:29 am There seems to be a increase in popularity towards socialism by the youth. Sex offenders or more specifically, child sex offenders are considered so morally reprehensible that they are in a different class to murders and especially theives, mostly because of trust issues and the fact that child sex offenders have a biological drug on their crutch that tempts them to commit more sex crimes. It's most likely the main reason why the registry exists.OnionPetal wrote: Tue Feb 10, 2026 7:38 am If people hire murderers and thieves, then why not someone of a different orientation, too? You can make good money in the trades, these days. And that's mostly men who society already looks down on (wrongly), so yes, there would be things you could do to earn a living wage.
I'm not denying your claim, but I would imagine that it would be a lot harder for child sex offenders to find a job/start a business. (In order to start a business, you have to have money and shelter, both of which require a job for most people, except for people like Epstein.)

Regarding the bolded passage, do you personally believe this? If so, please explain.oolhlh2 wrote: Thu Feb 12, 2026 9:30 am Sex offenders or more specifically, child sex offenders are considered so morally reprehensible that they are in a different class to murders and especially theives, mostly because of trust issues and the fact that child sex offenders have a biological drug on their crutch that tempts them to commit more sex crimes. Yes. The desire to have sexual encounters with people you find attractive is a strong urge, like nicotine. If sex drive didn't exist then platforms like PornHub wouldn't nearly be as big as it is now. Sex addiction wouldn't exist, sexual assault wouldn't exist as there wouldn't be an urge to do so, etc...OnionPetal wrote: Thu Feb 12, 2026 8:08 pm Regarding the bolded passage, do you personally believe this? It is understandable that people would distrust or show distain for a sex offender for that reason alone, hence why the registry exists for example, or why people want castration to be a thing.

The difference is, nicotine is always considered addictive. The libido is not. Most people do not have sex addictions. Most people can control their attractions (e.g., respecting consent), and it's unfair to suggest that MAPs are any different in that respect. MAPs are not 'destined to offend.' Factors impacting offenses usually involve psychological and impulse-control problems, more than a mere attraction towards minors. Bear in mind that peer-reviewed research indicates that the majority of convicted sex offenders against minors are 'situational offenders' who are not preferentially attracted to children. The majority target people in vulnerable positions: the elderly, the sick, and yes, children too. But these majority of offenders are not child-lovers.oolhlh2 wrote: Thu Feb 12, 2026 11:37 pmYes. The reason that the modern sex registries exist is mainly a result of two high-profile child murders in the 1990s. Not because of looking at pixels. And yet, there are still no standardised 'murderer registries' in most jurisdictions. Given the history of these registries, you'd think they would be more aptly applied to murderers, than those who have engaged in happy, willing encounters with minors.oolhlh2 wrote: Thu Feb 12, 2026 11:37 pm It is understandable that people would distrust or show distain for a sex offender for that reason alone, hence why the registry exists for example, or why people want castration to be a thing.
So if you're interested in sex offender registries, there are many activists who view registries as an 'unjust, ineffective, and soul-destroying' form of state violence, which do nothing to serve actual victims, and should be abolished (see: 'The Feminist and the Sex Offender' by Judith Levine).
