More than 1,000 files of child sexual abuse material were found on a York County man’s laptop after he dropped it off to be serviced at Staples, police say.
Troy Tracey, 55, of Hanover, was having virus issues with his laptop after visiting websites, so he left it with an employee at the Staples along Eisenhower Drive in July 2025, Hanover Borough Police said in charging documents.
As the employee was checking for the source of the virus, they found “signs” of CSAM, police said. The laptop’s home screen was a zoomed in photo of a young child, and there were “suspicious” folders, police said.
According to charging documents, 1,013 images and about five videos allegedly depicting CSAM were found after police were able to forensically search the laptop.
Tracey was arraigned Monday on felony charges of child pornography and criminal use of a communication facility, according to court records. He is currently in York County Prison with bail set at $25,000.
