The sorry capitulation of Beyond the Plus and BL Talk

Post by BLueRibbon »

In the past few days, I've heard news of two MAP organizations barricading or closing their doors. The first was the BL Talk and associated Fawnlet magazine project, which is on hiatus after one of its editors freaked out about being mentioned in a silly little YouTube video. The second, and much more disappointing example, is the offline advocacy group Beyond The Plus. While the BL Talk and Fawnlet projects were ultimately not activist endeavors, Beyond the Plus certainly was; "we're here, we're pedo, get used to it!" may as well have been their motto.

Beyond the Plus, I loved their optimism. They inspire me to make videos where we all mock 'CSA victims' one day.
I support AAMs and MAPs. Personally I am a romantic GL but I support loving relationships between people from infants all the way up to the elderly.💘

How is this going to help?

It appears you are cognitively distorted (believe for example, that a child or teen can not be forced into something they don't feel comfortable with, through coercive schooling etc).

Making videos with cognitive distortions like this will lead to you being mocked.

Thanks for the advice, sir.

As for the article, the case of Beyond The Plus is a little different as the management of that organization already have their own site and haven't gone into hiding, which is remarkable given they are self-doxed. Really the site they took down was just an advert for the in-person meetings, which the members felt too threatened to continue.

I'm not sure trying to infiltrate or harm the local group involved in the harassment is going to be helpful. Any kind of provocation is likely to be interpreted as their own work, and they are a small and localized target. It could end up as a Jack McLellan situation or worse.

I'd be embarrassed to be the guy who took those BL sites down, though. Where would we be if BoyChat or Newgon ever behaved like that - the worst that can happen is your ISP kicks you off, but they have effectively just kicked themselves off.

Well, we've found a way to contact them now. If we actually do manage to set ICE on them, we can let them know it wasn't Bt+'s work. I suppose there's a risk they won't believe that.

I heard last night that BL Talk are probably going to start up again. Probably.

I wouldn't wish ICE on my worst enemy, frankly, and furthermore I think it'd be a bad look for the community as a whole. I'm not really a they go low we go high moralist but tipping them off sounds like a really bad idea

Well, there are two ways to win 'friends'. One is via charm appeals and an outpouring of love. Another is by making people afraid to ever cross you.

I prefer a little of column A... and a little of column B...

I agree with Schorchingwilde here. I don't think this strategy will gain us many friends...
