It's an interesting take and it makes sense to have some focus on why people react the way they do.zarkle wrote: Fri Apr 17, 2026 1:24 am
The only way child lover rights will become normalized is if we MAPs heavily focus on the science of disgust, (the research by Paul Rozin and otheres) if not there isn't a chance in hell. No amount of abstract left wing politics analyzing culture alone will move us even closer to MAP rights.
I think it will become normalised in time for a few reasons. One is that I think the Internet is changing peoples attitudes towards sex. Hentei and Anime are the most popular search queries on Pornhub, that includes everything from cute girls to tentacle sex. BDSM, swinging, race porn, ageplay, these are all things that are catered for and popular. There are stats for porn consumption that show younger people are the biggest consumers, that includes teenagers but also adults in their 20s, so this is something that is more in the younger generations but will be carried forward as people age.
Young people are starting to find their voices for youth rights, voting ages are starting to move, young people faced by climate change and no rights now have the Internet and are finding they have a voice, and it's starting to make change.
Constant inflation and economic systems with no underlying assets such as gold are finding the money printing presses are running out of steam, they're having to start to choose between education, hospitals, massive prison populations, defence, infrastructure, their aging populations etc. You can't lock up massive sections of your society and expect to fund defence and aging populations on top of all the other commitments, at some point you have to return to reality and rethink healthcare, education and law and order policies.
I think the changes we're seeing in the world will mean it simply can't afford to maintain silly witch hunts, while the younger generations as they reach voting age will start to force policy shifts in all areas, including youth rights and sexual rights for them as adults and for younger people.
I just see the witch hunt as unsustainable and we will see shifts. We may not quickly see it fully normalised but I think we will see it becoming increasingly softened until it eventually becomes a non-issue.
