Furry culture used to be a safe space for MAPs. Of course they didn't use that word, or "pedophile" or anything like it, but most knew it was part of being one. In the 00s and early 10s it was common with orgies involving boys as young as 12 at furry cons. They were passed around like trophies and people were openly bragging about it in IRC chats, which included some popular "mainstream" furries, who today swear they have nothing to do with such things. There's also a nonzero chance many of these orgies involved dogs.

I don't know what led to it ceasing, as i wasn't active as much at the time (or rather, they left the IRC channels and forums i was on) but i remember those discussions in chats from IRC, as well as the young users who wanted to yiff with everyone, online and IRL. Now, as you can guess, the open behaviour of most furries, including those who took part in it, is the opposite. What goes on in secret, i don't know.

It's pretty much all about characters who are either explicitly teen aged, or proportioned like preteens, but an increasing amount of furries swear it's not about that, and also pretty much everyone got into it as a teen or preteen. It's the same with zoophilia, pretty much everyone is into it to some extent, yet in public they will swear they're not. ESPECIALLY the fursuit owning convention goers who swear they're only into adult age characters.

It's also remarkable how mainstream it's gotten. Just look at the Super Mario movie and how big a thing the official promotion is making of Fox McCloud being in it, and the visibility of Bowser (a very prominent "furry generator") that obviously cater to a checklist of cartoon fetishes. It's like they really cranked his "sexiness" up to 11 in the new movie, judging by all the clips i've seen people posting from it everywhere.

I heard rumors about all that stuff before. Orgies with boys? that's uh....a bit too far imo but NOW its gone too far in the other direction on discord etc if you so much as hint that you are into cub you get banned from servers these days and have a buncha pissed off people after you, and literally every recent semi popular furry server I have been In now treats anyone under 18 seeing any sort of nsfw art as the worse possible thing. Of course that's DISCORD, due to ToS and it attracting the most modern day SJW types on the planet its not surprising.

as for the OC thing YEAH, I have noticed that as well, a great deal of ocs even male ocs have very delicate childlike features, big watery anime eyes, small jaw lines (maws or whatever) A lot are drawn super skinny and id wager the "muscle" or "masculine" ocs are few and far between as I have noticed a lot of furry art is fem boy adjacent, which if we are honest is just about making a male character look as "young" as possible and having soft delicate features comparable to a prepubescent boy while also being able to say "underage??? nah bro hes 26, hes just a femboy" so it gets a pass.

Also as to what lead to it ceasing is just well....more surveillance everywhere now, lol. If a group of people at a furry con are seen going into a hotel room with someone who appears underage that shit will get shut down real quick and they'll get raided. People are hyper aware about anything that looks "off" now which is why id say over 90 percent of the adult furry fandom now have "minors DNI" on their profile pages and in general won't even so much as talk with anyone known to be under 18 even platonically.
