Basically the title. Someone actually tracked the sources behind these bills and it was Meta lobbying. These bills are designed to make it easier for corporations to exploit children while reducing their actual autonomy and independence. Anyone who really cares about kids should oppose them

If anything, this is a great example of how government regulation, so beloved of most strands of the political and economic left, is helping the same corporations they often complain about.
While I do not believe in an automatic connection between economic and social policies, the only way I see to even begin achieving child liberation is to lobby, and eventually force, the state back to its original mandate: Enforce order within the realm, and prevent incursions from without. In such a society, both age verification laws and even age of consent laws will become irrelevant.

I couldn't care less about this issue. Australian minors are getting around their laws. You shouldn't worry about it either.
I support AAMs and MAPs. Personally I am a romantic GL but I support loving relationships between people from infants all the way up to the elderly.

Plot twist: These 'age verification' laws are not really to protect minors, but to more easily track adults online. Who could have ever predicted this?

Age verification laws were created by a mix of things
1) Government's that want to track people
2) Big tech companies that benefit from Government regulations and complying with the state, also to help big tech easier comply with laws about not collecting data on children.
3) Parental protection instincts to prevent 764 incidents or roblox grooming (a gradiance of harm exist)
4) Puritan cultural norms about sex, and also feminist norms about sex
5) Misguided but realist parents that don't want their kids addicted to sissy hypnosis
1-2 have to do with capitalist and government corruption interacting with each other
2-4 have to do with natural instincts and cultural norms interacting with one another. cultural norms boot up from the hardwired instincts
5 is a novel problem of certain genres of porn no one predicted
We can see how Age Verification laws have MANY FACTORS and MANY DEBATES with nuance. Like people who only think porn websites and or social media should have age verification and nothing on the OS level. Big tech knows age verification laws will wipe out or increase cost on smaller independent competitor websites. So they are using it to prevent free market competition. So the Borgeoise part is only partially true.
