PubMed article about Informed Consent

Post by Curson »

So if this article says children who are 12 and older are able to understand informed consent... How different is this from giving consent, exactly? Because the arguments that are against adults and children associating all come down to 'life experience' or things like 'grooming' when even kids their own age can cause harm to each other.

Should being able to consent to medical procedures and being able to understand them not pave the way for personal autonomy and loving who you want to love? It feels like what exists in the United States is just parental overreach and control.
Am I not simply a human being just like you? But out of your norm.

We live in a sex negative culture and conditioning kids that sex with an adult isn't OK will make them see some adults as good people. Parents who desire control do not want their kids to see anyone but THEM as the savior so they'll keep running back to them instead of people who actually care.

In fact in certain jurisdictions in AMERICA age of consent was as low as 7 to 12. Puritans came and forced age increase to enforce marriage, sex for procreation and indoctrination of their religion.

I mean think about it. if a parent desires control over their child's life, body, mind and soul they will crush any sense of autonomy and trust of other adults. It creates a trauma bond. By enforcing the idea that they cannot consent, they will believe it and will doubt themselves, plus it makes other people believe without question, unless they're like us and aware that it's all bullshit.

Westernized society hates youth. MAPs are the cure. Youth are NOT slaves. They are our future and we must fight for their freedom.

I'll also add to this by saying that we are a very puritan culture by and large, for whatever reason the idea of anyone under 18 having sex with anyone decently above 18 just makes people "disgusted" and then makes the under 18 "less pure" so they need to convince the child or teen that they were "groomed" or were manipulated into it. We hand on to the idea of childhood to the point where once you have sex you lost your childhood or something like that.
