Why are adults expected to desexualize kids?

One common ToS violation across a variety of online spaces is the supposed act of 'sexualizing minors', as if nobody below the age of 18 ever has sexual feelings or could possibly be the subject of sexual desire. It should go without saying that virtually nobody would actually believe such an absurdity if they really thought about it, and that the insanely broad brush has been procured to protect companies against legal and social censure. But I do think there are a lot of people who believe preteens are entirely asexual. They could hardly be more wrong.

The "let kids be kids" people are among the biggest fucking hypocrites in the world.

'Let kids be kids' has always meant to groom children into submissive personalities for their obsessive controlling authorities (i.e., their parents). The only parts of letting kids be kids that's actually relevant to people are the parts where they don't learn independence. If you're letting a 4 year old get himself ready in the morning, you're accused by bored stay at home career parents of depriving him of his childhood or some such.

If people actually cared about letting kids be kids, they'd need to accept that a part of that is sexual exploration. They never will consider this though because the rhetoric is only a framing for control of other aspects of their children's lives.
