How has getting into the MAP comunity helped you?

Post by harrydubois666 »

Do you think it’s helped you to have people who share your interests to talk to socialize with? I’ve been on lifeline.chat and mapsupport.de, and on the one hand, I’m glad I can share my worries and anxieties, but on the other hand,I feel like I end up focusing too much on it. I wish I could just accept myself and find peace

It has been life saving for me.

When I was younger I really struggled with my sexuality, by the time I was in my 20s I struggling to come to terms with what I was. But being in forums, talking to others gradually got me to understand my sexuality and as I met more and more really nice maps I got to realise that maps are the salt of the earth, good people, normal people, kind and fun people. That allows me to accept that I could be that as well and the monster people paint maps as.

Today I'm very happy to be a map and that was all thanks for forums like this.

I'm glad to hear that, I'm new in all this and I hope some day I'll find peace. Can I ask you about your attractions?

I'd have to say it has help with the self-hate I carried for years. I believed the media lies, all pedos are evil and (if given the chance) would abuse kids. I was well aware of my attractions early in life and felt I was doomed. Since coming to spaces like this, I realized we are not some evil figure lurking in the shadows. That we can have these attractions and still not abuse kids. Now, I still don't like having the attractions but I have accepted it's a part of me and I shouldn't hate myself.

It helped me with the feeling of isolation. Knowing that I'm not alone. That there are other MAPs like me. Even if it's just online.

It has made me realize to show no remorse to "CSA victims".
I support AAMs and MAPs. Personally I am a romantic GL but I support loving relationships between people from infants all the way up to the elderly.💘

I'm glad for you, and other young people these days, to have these resources available; somewhere to turn to for sharing thoughts.

PS: love that signature "but i love girlsssss.. and trans ppl and femboys ya" :)

In my younger days, pre-internet, it felt harder to reach out if one (even knew where to reach), so I suppose I was like many others who just learned to live with this on my own, until I reached self-acceptance.

It was only a few years ago that I first made contact with others online, sharing my deepest secrets with these complete strangers anonymously and, yes, it has been great to be able to express certain, previously-hidden, thoughts with people who understand.

Of course, just like any community there are those we take to and those we don't, regardless of our shared attractions, but that's fine and it's felt good to recognise there are many of us out there, each and every day, despite the fact we can't be as open as we want.
