I was watching the movie Lolita from the 90s earlier today, and I had me thinking, Is pedophilia-affirming media healthy or unhealthy for society? What gave me this thought was that there's a lot of Lolita animes that are very controversial, but then again, most anime have a thing or two about taboo subjects, whether it's Stepbrother and Sister in Attack on Titan, or more so full-blown Lolita stuff like in Ero Manga Senpai. These shows and movies do Give an outlet for maps in a sense that a map could like out all their internal desires through writing, drawing, or whatever they decide to do and for other maps who get entertained by them. But look at Japan's severely high sexual assault rate. You can't make shit like they do over here. But then again, from my understanding, sex crimes are as bad in America as it is in Japan. So, is it a benefactor of Japan's such high rate against children? Or is there a more particular reason why? I have wondered for a very long time if pedophilic media is unhealthy for society. And then when you think about the kinds of things people go to jail for nowadays. I mean, there's a case where a guy went to prison for drawing Bart Simpson having sex with Lisa Simpson. A simple drawing. Now that's weird to me, but others might not see it that way.
A lot of people say that Rick and Morty's relationship resembles a grooming relationship where he, the main character, Morty, is constantly abused, spoken down to, and forced into situations that he doesn't like. And so a lot of people believe that it's a metaphor about pedophilia and child grooming. Heck, on the pilot episode, there's a scene where Morty is forced to stick a seed up his ass for Rick, and then Rick tells him not to tell his parents. I don't know. I've heard a lot of stuff about this, but there's also the movie Spirited Away, which is probably one of the best films ever made. The reason why I'm breaking up Spirited Away by Studio Ghibli is because the movie, even though it's a children's film, is a metaphor about pedophilia. More specifically, child trafficking. And so, with all that in mind, there are media, whether it's metaphorical or literal senses of pedophilia, but do you guys think that this is a healthy outlet on everyday society, or do you think that by shutting it down like mangas, more specifically lolita mangas, is a healthy way to shut down this kind of behavior? There's a lot of lolita mangas or graphic novels that support rape amongst children, and children in provocative poses. I don't know. What's your guys' view on pedophilia media in public? And do you guys know of any movies or TV shows that are a little more private or secret that I can look at so I can continue to explore this phenomenon? Please tell me if you recommend any.

Re: Pedophilia in the media
The pedophilic media Japan produces is not the cause of the sexual assaults rapes and straight up CSA happening in the country.
Here are the reasons why.
For one Japan's birthrate has been declining since the 90s and women aren't having kids nor getting married and men have dropped out of dating.
Many toxic married couples stay together for whatever reason and it is common for them to cheat on each other over there and many married men seek out prostitutes because at home the relationship is completely sexless.
Also, Japan has a toxic work culture where many office workers work extreme long hours and most of the guys who touch girls on the train are actually just office workers who are either drunk or really stressed and tired from the long work hours.
Another thing to consider too is that up until very recently Japan had a very laxed attitude on CP and pedophilia and to a certain extent still does.
The national age of consent was 13 in the country up until 2023 CP was legal for years up until 2015 and of course junior idols which aren't as popular as they used to be but still exist.
Hope this helped.

Re: Pedophilia in the media
Not going into too much depth but just with your initial question. Personally I feel that pedophilia is very healthy in media. It's all about his it's portrayed of course where consent from the boy or girl is required. I personally don't believe in censorship of any kind and I feel that more films like Lolita including books should be openly displayed. Our attraction to minors and minor's attraction to adults are both very real and no different than the relationships, both sexual and romantic, between adults. As such, pedophilia is apart of human history just like the oldest profession, "prostitution" is apart of human history and is in large part what has helped build nations, so why should we shy away from pedophilia in films, books, or works of art. Censorship of any kind is an absolute NO for me.

Is this to say Japan was a "MAP paradise" until 2015?mrlolicon93 wrote: Tue Dec 31, 2024 1:25 am The pedophilic media Japan produces is not the cause of the sexual assaults rapes and straight up CSA happening in the country.

Re: Pedophilia in the media
It was definitely very easy to live as a MAP until then, particularly if you were attracted to pubescents.
Japan still doesn't pursue historical offenses. There was a 3-year statute of limitations for most sexual offenses.
Even if a MAP came out with hundreds of cases from the 90s-00s none of them could be prosecuted.
Just because shota and loli has not yet been regulated, that doesn't mean it's accepted by society at large, though:

It's more worry by conservative jurists that restricting such material could be considered unconstitutional.A 2007 public opinion poll taken by the Japanese government showed that 86.5% of respondents believed that child pornography regulations should be applied to anime and manga, while 90.9% endorsed regulations of "harmful materials" on the Internet.

It will. The new laws have only just passed so sentencing is still on the cautious side. I imagine that over the next 10 years sentences will get gradually longer. Oral sex with a minor might only get a 5 year sentence now, but by 2035 I imagine it'll get a 8-10 year sentence.InfinityChild wrote: Wed Jan 08, 2025 3:32 am Ahh thanks that's interesting, hopefully it doesn't get worse there
I see no reason that the trend would suddenly reverse.
