YouTuber Think Before You Sleep bashes lolicon

Post by mrlolicon93 »

The YouTube user Think Before You Sleep made a video a couple months ago talking about the Japan Visa & Mastercard situation.

While he does have some good points i agree with the majority of the this video is spent bashing lolicon loli art and the people who enjoy it specifically Chibi Reviews.

Here is the video.

To him it is problematic that anime has lewd loli stuff in it and anime and manga apparently turn people into sexual predators LMAO.

LOL that "ban all anime" thumbnail... I'm not wasting over 28 minutes of my life on this.

This sort of argument is nothing new to me, though. It's pretty mainstream in many countries like Australia, the UK, or Canada. During the 10 months I spent homeless, there's one shelter where I spent more time than any other and I became very friendly with the staff. Two guys in particular were really amazing partners for philosophical conversations. One time, I ended up discussing ephebophilia and the popularity of "barely legal" pornography with one of them, and I disclosed that I was preferentially a hebephile (I didn't go as far as admitting that I had strictly pedophilic desires as well). Other staff members overheard, and a few days later, I had to sit down with the shelter's coordinator (the "big boss") and endure a long speech about how I should get "treatment" for that "mental illness". However, what was craziest about it is that—as he already knew I loved anime & manga—he spent most of that time angrily asserting that Japanese anime & manga promoted "pedophilia" (he didn't use the word "hebephilia" once) and made child abuse "look acceptable" because it "sexualized children". Those arguments are always the same damn thing, like a broken record. He showed no interest in taking a look at the scientific evidence to the contrary I was trying to show him on my smartphone.

I am also not wasting 28 minutes of my life watching the video. The arguments are always the same. Always.
The main idea behind it is the disgust factor that someone could use fiction as a way to get off, not only that but with fictional children.

I understand the idea of there being disgust, it makes sense to me, just that disgust isn't there for adults who indulge in fictional adult animated material. It's sometimes made fun of, but it's just that. It's just another form for them and they see little to no issue in it.

It's the factor of it involving fictional children is the main motivator and to an extent I agree. Society expects us to turn off our sexuality entirely with the threat of criminalization, fear of seeking help, and fear of living day to day. They take joy in that.

What always makes me laugh is the argument that it primarily "sexualizes children". Sorry to break it to you, but I do that every day in my fantasies or out in public (in my head, of course). It's just how my brain works. Would I ever act upon it? No, I don't believe I ever will. I use what works for me best and keeps me the most safe and keeps my urges at a minimum. It is no different to me if someone uses fiction as an outlet to not live a miserable and unfulfilling life. I would rather someone use fiction than do the real thing, given that it can be much safer and risks no harm to someone else.

If you use fiction in moderation, I see no issue, but I am biased myself in-favor of it. There again is so much fear of sexuality that society would rather make sure we have nothing safe to use than keep us in some form of decent mental health.
