The Island

Post by Black Mirror »

- I find myself lying down, gazing up at a stormy sky. When I lift up my body, I notice that I am stranded on a small, barren island amidst a vast ocean. I also realize that I am not alone. Sitting along the shore is a cloaked stranger, gazing up at something I had somehow unnoticed before, but which now has my full attention.

- Numerous bodies suspended within a white tear amidst the tempest fall one by one into the dark sea below. Indifferent to such a scene, the stranger continues to sit and watch as if merely observing rain fall. However, I could not stand idly by as this happens, so I hurry into the remarkably shallow waters and frantically trudge through it in a desperate attempt to bring one of them ashore. I managed to secure someone, but upon my return, I noticed that the stranger had vanished. However, I thought little of it as I laid the body down in the sand and intently stared at the seemingly lifeless figure. It was a pale woman with milky eyes and bleached hair. Her body bare, and her skin gray and worn. Slowly, she shifted her head towards me, her vacant stare locking onto mine. Her mouth then began to stretch open wide as her eyes receded and darkened until her entire face—and eventually her body—transformed into a gaping pit. Sand and water flowed into the hole, engulfing everything, including me.

- I gradually sink into a void as the illumination from the opening above begins to close, and my mind slowly drifts. The next sensation I feel is my feet gently resting on sand while my head tilts upward. One by one, lights emerge, resembling stars in the night sky. I see them and feel a sense of fulfillment and childlike delight. Nostalgia envelops me, and I wish to drown in this moment forever. Then, the lights gradually fade, and I am once again immersed in darkness. My mind continues to drift, and the thoughts dissolve until I am gone completely.
