A migrant rapist may receive compensation after he claimed his electronic tag left him feeling “depressed”. Turkish criminal Mustafa Taskiran, 48, told the court that the tag caused him “intense physical and mental distress” due to the weight of it and the discomfort it caused. Lawyers are now weighing up whether “appropriate relief” should be given to the sex offender.
High Court Judge Mr Justice Lavender ruled in his favour just days before the Turk admitted stalking another woman and threatening her with a knife while being monitored. He will be sentenced for the offence this month, The Sun reports. Taskiran was granted indefinite leave to remain in the UK in 1994, and has since committed a string of unlawful acts.
