HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC/WBTW) — A former Henrico County, Virginia, police employee was arrested Thursday after Horry County authorities say he tried to meet a minor for sex via a social media app.
Daniel James Busang, 55, was arrested after investigators with the Horry County Sheriff’s Office received a tip about activity on the app Kik. Busang is accused of using the app to try to meet a minor for sex.
He was charged with three counts of criminal exploitation of a minor and released from the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Friday after posting a $30,000 bond, according to online jail records.
The Henrico County Police Division confirmed to News13’s sister station, WRIC, that Busang was employed by the department for 15 years — starting in 1996 and ending in 2011, when he resigned. The police spokesperson did not specify what Busang’s role was at the division during his tenure.
The South Carolina Attorney General’s Office will prosecute the case.
