“Right now under Florida Statutes, you can receive the death penalty only if (the victim is) under 12 years of age when … trafficked. We’re going to make sure that everyone who trafficks a minor for sex gets the death penalty in Florida, and if they’re lucky, life in prison. This is going to stop,” Renner promised.

Renner also said he would ensure sufficient funding to address the backlog of internet crimes where “people … are being groomed and coerced in real time and make sure those are taken care of.”

He also said he would “fund victims so that they have emergency housing and counseling so they can get out of their old life of trafficking into a new life, in a new future.”

“Addictive social media platforms,” which he targeted while House Speaker, would also be regulated, so that young people have a “protected childhood.”
