Authoritarian Trump regime threatens to withhold child predator monies if ICE demands are not met

San Diego and San Jose are suing the Trump Administration, accusing it of withholding funding to go after online child predators from the administration's immigration and diversity programs.

In a federal complaint filed Jan. 30, the two cities say the Justice Department is forcing them to either accept politically charged conditions or give up hundreds of thousands of dollars that goes to it Internet Crimes Against Children program, which pays for investigators, digital forensics and public education on online exploitation.

San Diego leads the regional ICAC task force for San Diego County to combat sex trafficking and child exploitation.

This year, San Diego would receive $581,000 if it agrees to allow ICE to detain people without probable cause or to hinder ICE's investigations in any way. In addition, agencies that accept funding are prohibited from operating any program that, according to the lawsuit, has "components relating to diversity, equity, and inclusion."
