What's your favorite music genre? I love music; therefore, enjoy many genres. A few of my favorites to listen to; especially in my studio painting, Blues, Jazz; Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, Timi Yuri, Billy Holiday, ... What's yours ?

Re: Music Genre
Gotta move this to the off-topic section.
But to answer your question, music is more impactful for me when I got memorable experiences to associate with them. As such, most of my favorite music comes from video games I've greatly enjoyed. And anything composed by Nabuo Uematsu (of Final Fantasy fame) tops that list. Honorable mention to Yoko Shimomura (Kingdom Hearts) though.

I'm mostly influenced by my time, so all the biggest Broadway musicals teens and tweens were into and making animations for in the 2010s count.RoosterDance wrote: Mon Aug 24, 2026 6:10 amLay down some examples!Scorchingwilde wrote: Mon Aug 24, 2026 6:01 am I'm a lot like Roosterdance, but most of my favorite and most memorable songs come from musical movies or theater
As for any specifics, after some of my own personal struggles though I've come to appreciate most of the tracks from Next to Normal a lot. It helps that the genre is sort of alt/rock and the guitar parts of the songs are amazing. I'm also quite fond of Disney's version of The Little Mermaid and even its much-criticized and panned sequels, also I really love the trans interpretation of the story. There's also a live theater adaptation of the original with some new songs, The World Above could be deeply relatable to any transid and its reprise for any AAM or MAP.
