The Cybercrime Division of the Complex Crimes area of ​​the Buenos Aires Police arrested five suspects in La Matanza, accused of an aberrant act: managing pedophilia groups on platforms such as Instagram and X to “educate” girls from 8 to 14 years old and make them “sexier”.

They not only asked them for material of themselves: they also sent them photos and videos with scenes of sexual abuse of children.

The material that the pedophiles obtained became currency; they exchanged it with other users or directly posted it on porn sites.

The investigation, led by the 2nd Assistant Prosecutor's Office of La Matanza, headed by Lorena Pecorelli and Daniela Sánchez together with secretary Jazmín Pellegrino, began in October 2023, after receiving an alert from the NCMEC system, based in the United States, which tracks the routes of pedophile material on the networks. Shortly after, they came across a series of groups. “Gente copada, sin dudas” (Cool people, without prejudices), was the name of one. They discovered that at least four minors were victims. Thus, finally, 21 suspects were identified, aged between 25 and 40 years.

The accused posed as girls, with female aliases, in accounts that they quickly deleted. One of them, who operated on X, distributed five videos and ten photos of prohibited material in a single morning last May from two different accounts.

Another Instagram user, operating from an account with a naked butt as a profile picture and with 290 followers, sent eight videos and twelve photos, all of them containing child sexual material, to the “Gente Copada” group.
