Reform UK candidate for Caerphilly Llŷr Powell ranted about Huw Edwards and political scandals in a rambling answer distancing himself from Nathan Gill, the party's disgraced former leader in Wales. Mr Powell was asked about his former boss who recently admitted eight charges of taking bribes to speak in favour of Russia when he was a Ukip and Brexit Party member of the European Parliament (MEP).

Mr Powell, who hopes to become the next Senedd member for Caerphilly and Reform's first elected politician in Cardiff Bay by winning the by-election due to take place on October 23, worked as a caseworker for then prominent MEP Nathan Gill.

He said he didn't work with Gill during the period the offences were committed in - between December 2018 and July 2019. BBC Radio Wales asked Mr Powell if he knew anything about Gill's crimes, and he responded with a rant about Huw Edwards and other political scandals.
